Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ModelRetirement collects, uses, stores, and shares information during the alpha release. By using the service, you acknowledge this Policy.

The operator does not access, review, or sell your entered financial information. Saved server-side plan data is encrypted at rest. The app decrypts it only temporarily as needed to load your account, run simulations, save or restore your plan, and support features you use.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide and information generated when you use the service, including:

Account information, such as your email address, sign-in status, password hash if you set a password, first seen time, and last seen time.
Financial and planning inputs you enter, such as ages, income, savings balances, account types, retirement assumptions, real estate assumptions, Social Security assumptions, tax-related assumptions, and saved scenario data.
Saved app state, such as theme, walkthrough progress, unlocked features, chart order, saved baseline state, saved scenario state, and other interface preferences.
Feedback notes you submit, including note text, page or screen context, browser user agent, IP address, and authenticated email when available.
Engagement events, such as screen, tab, URL, time spent, feedback votes, browser error details, client identifier, user agent, IP address, and authenticated email when available.
API performance logs, such as endpoint path, status code, latency, client identifier, and user label.
AI usage records, such as model name, token counts, estimated cost, success or error status, client identifier, and user label.
Chat or other text you submit to AI-enabled features, when those features are used.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to operate ModelRetirement, authenticate alpha users, save and restore your plan, run simulations and optimizers, provide chat features, troubleshoot issues, measure reliability and cost, understand alpha usage, improve onboarding and usability, respond to feedback, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Financial and planning inputs are used to provide the product experience you request. They are not reviewed by the operator, sold, or used to market financial products to you.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

The service uses session cookies to keep you signed in. The app may also use browser local storage on your device for interface state, feature unlocks, saved comparison views, client identifiers, saved plan inputs, and temporary app behavior. Local browser storage stays on your device unless the app sends it to the server to run a simulation, save your plan, sync state, or support a feature you use. Clearing your browser data may remove some local preferences but may not delete server-side records.

4. AI and Email Providers

ModelRetirement may send relevant prompts, text, usage details, selected plan context, or generated responses to AI service providers to deliver chat features. It may also use email delivery providers to send sign-in links. These providers process data as needed to deliver their services and may have their own terms and privacy practices.

5. Hosting and Service Providers

The service may use third-party providers for hosting, storage, authentication support, email delivery, AI, logging, monitoring, and related infrastructure. These providers may process information on our behalf. We do not sell personal information.

6. Sharing

We may share information with service providers that help operate the app, if required by law or legal process, to protect rights and security, or with your consent. Alpha feedback may be reviewed internally to improve the product.

7. Data Retention

During alpha, we retain account data, encrypted saved plan inputs, encrypted saved snapshots, encrypted saved state that may include scenarios, feedback notes, engagement logs, API metrics, and AI usage logs for as long as useful to operate, debug, evaluate, and improve the service, unless deletion is required by law or reasonably requested. Because this is an alpha release, retention practices may change as the product matures.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for an alpha service, including authenticated access, session protections, invite controls, encrypted server-side storage for saved plan payloads, and limited production payload logging. No system can be guaranteed secure. The server still processes your plan inputs in memory when needed to run simulations, optimizers, chat features, save or restore your plan, and provide the app experience, but those inputs are not made available for operator review.

9. Your Choices

You can choose what information to enter, edit saved plan inputs inside the app, clear browser storage, stop using optional chat features, or request deletion of alpha account and stored plan data by contacting us. Some logs may be retained where needed for security, debugging, legal compliance, or aggregate product analysis.

10. Children's Privacy

ModelRetirement is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the alpha evolves. The effective date will show when the policy was last updated. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the updated Policy.
